Mary Banker
Receptionist
Hi, I’m Mary. I have been working at Sedgefield Animal Hospital with my husband, Dr. Banker for over twenty years. I have done everything in the practice from bathing, surgical prep, assisting, and for the past 16 years I have enjoyed the position of receptionist/front office person.
Before working at Sedgefield I was a stay at home mom. Before that when Dr. B was in vet school I taught kindergarten in Columbus, Ohio. I graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 1971 with a degree in Elementary Education. We have lived in North Carolina since1976, but originally we are from Cincinnati, Ohio.
We have a daughter, Leslie; two sons Brad and Kevin, and two grandchildren Isaac, and Toni. Dr. Banker and I have two wonderful cats Sassafras a Burmese, and Mousse a Bombay/Burmese Mix. We also have numerous “grand-puppies and kitties”. My hobbies include travel, music, gardening, hiking (all sorts of outdoor activities), and visiting the grandchildren!

Chance
Office Cat / Office Greeter In Training
Hi! My name is Chance, as in "Second Chance". I came to SAHDC when I was just 4 weeks old. I was found by a very nice young man on a golf range. I had a severe and irreparable leg injury. The staff here nursed me to health with love and TLC. They knew from the beginning that they couldn't save my leg. However, they wanted me to get big and strong before having surgery. When I turned 5 months old this past September the doctors knew I was ready for surgery to amputate my front leg. The day after my surgery I was ready to go, and haven't slowed down since. The staff thought they would be able to place me in a new home once I recovered from surgery, but by that point they had already fallen in love with my great and funny personality. Theo, the older, wiser, resident cat has taken me under his paw and is teaching me the ropes.
